LYCKWYD BIO

LYCKWYD is:

Todd Anson - Bass &Vocals
Mike Nelson - Guitars
Michael Stewart - Drums

If there is one trio that possesses the essential elements necessary to break big in the metal scene, it's Eugene Oregon's LYCKWYD. With the razor sharp hooks contained in their latest E.P. "RIVER OF SOULS", LYCKWYD is postured to set the northwest on fire within The New Wave of American Heavy Metal.

As any metalhead is well aware of, the 80s saw the invasion of British metal acts, Iron Maiden and Venom among them, deemed the "New Wave Of British Heavy Metal" or "NWOBHM." LYCKWYD will be among the charge of NWOAHM on domestic shores.

LYCKWYD, which takes its unique name from a normal word (liquid) spelled phonetically to respond to any internet search engine, has established a solid, dedicated, and vast fan base with 2006s "LIES". LYCKWYD has made a permanent mark on the northwest. A unique experience, LYCKWYD has a full wireless compliment that engages even the most stand offish fans right in their seats. There is no way to escape LYCKWYD.

In late 2008, LYCKWYD embarked on a 3 day, 16 performance showcase in Las Vegas, at hysteria city's "BONNIE SCREAMS" haunted ghost town. Contracted to perform for the crowd at bonnie screams, and scare the crap out of people was only the beginning. LYCKWYD forged in sound the theme song for the event which can be heard on their website, and bought on the "river of souls, special edition E.P.". LYCKWYD has been featured in the Eugene Register Guards "TICKET" as "Band converts gig into LYCKWYD assets", a feature story about their romp down to Vegas, and the theme song they wrote.

LYCKWYD'S "RIVER OF SOULS" album is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2009, with the special edition E.P. currently available at all LYCKWYD performances. "The special edition E.P. contains the 'Bonnie Screams' theme song, and was developed exclusively for our performances in Vegas" says Todd Anson, Bassist and lead vocalist for the band. "We spent a lot of time getting the theme song right, and we didn't skimp on production either". "LYCKWYD is a professional act all the way from beginning to end, so we didn't want to lose out on an opportunity to put our best foot forward when working with HYSTERIA CITY".

The band always gives out free stuff at every performance, whether it is shirts, C.D.'s, beanies, or some other kind of schwag. LYCKWYD has fined tuned the art of audience interaction and promotion. "With a great sponsor and business partner in BIG DADDY CHRIS.COM, we are able to use our resources to bludgeon the audience with great visual banners, posters and amp covers, as well as give out free stuff". Todd Says. "We use our ability to get merch at a discount and instead of pocketing the profits; we just give the stuff away. That way, there are hundreds of people walking around with our name on them". But the sponsorship doesn't end there. They are also sponsored by an excellent airbrush artist in Ken Mann of AIRBRUSH MADNESS. The band sports some of the most unique and inspiring artwork on their instruments, the TAMA drum set in the "BONNIE SCREAMS" video sports one of a kind custom airbrushed front bass drum heads. Anson's BC Rich bass is also a custom evil looking paint scheme developed by Mann.

LYCKWYD has been working within their local community to promote themselves by doing charitable events and giveaways, the latest of which is to give a guitar away to a deserving kid at the next "KIDZ ROCK" show in 2009. KIDZ ROCK is a local youth performance showcase produced by Cindy Ingram productions and features younger bands and musical artists from the northwest. The event is in its 3rd year, and promises to be a big draw. LYCKWYD is also working with other local acts to spearhead 2009s "FOODAPALOOSA" concert, where people of all ages can attend with a donation of food to help local food banks.

"The music is just part of the whole show." "If we can use our promotional skill to help the community and our sponsors, as well as get our name inside peoples heads, it's a win, win for everyone."

LYCKWYD Review at Coyote Jack's Sept 12,2009

Make no mistake, when you see LYCKWYD live you get your money's worth. Based out of Eugene, OR, this trio delivers raw power, and in Roseburg for the "Metal Therapy" show, raw power was what we got. Fronted by bassist/vocalist Todd Anson, a man of many screams and haunting howls. Guitarist Mike Nelson who's electric crunch can bring down a wrath of the thunder gods with his sonic wallop. Travis Fox on drums with beats so heavy your internal organs beg for mercy. These guys mean business.
With original songs like "Feel The Flame" and "Drowning", LYCKWYD brought the thunder to the night, which got an enthusiastic crowd response. At one point of the set, they pile-drived through a rendition of the "Right Said Fred" tune, "I'm Too Sexy" that the band put their own brand on showing some versatility and humor. "Confidence", best describes the band's stage presence that makes them compelling in a "David Lynch-ian" sort of way. You could tell that these guys love what they do.
The band's look is exactly what their music sounds like, dark, twisted & heavy. Todd's bass looks like a medieval weapon used to decapitate vampires, which he also played with a drum stick at one point in the show and then tossing back to Travis without missing a beat. Mike made sure that his guitar was there to take no prisoners because his tone is that of an ear splitting sniper gun. Everyone was well aware that LYCKWYD was in the house due to the fact that no one could stop headbanging.
The Roseburg metal heads more than approved and gave the band kudos for their efforts. What's cool about LYCKWYD is their hard working nature, professionalism and an overall "no nonsense attitude" that shines through in their live show. They fly their flag with an un-wavering belief in themselves. Like I said before,"These guys mean business".
